Where the missions of all participating institutions can be served, Washington Adventist University promotes collaborative efforts with colleges/universities and other institutions of education. Listed below are the major collaborative or affiliation agreements the College has in place or that are in the process of development.

Description of the Collaborations/Affiliations with Other Institutions

Adventist Distance Education Consortium
Serves as a central information source to college students seeking distance learning courses.

Home Study International
Cooperative arrangement with Home Study International to provide administrative support for Associate's and Bachelor's degrees, including sharing distance learning courseware.

Andrews University
Collaborative effort to provide Bachelor's degree in Social Work on the Campus of Columbia Union College under auspices of Andrews University.

Newbold College
Affiliation for the purpose of offering Bachelor's degrees in accounting and management on the campus of Newbold College.

Walla Walla University
Affiliation permitting CUC students to enroll in field classes at the Rosario Beach Marine Biological Field Station.

Pacific Union College
Pacific Union College is a related Adventist institution of higher education.

Highland View Academy
Affiliation for the purpose of offering dual credit courses on the campus of Highland View Academy.

Shenandoah Valley Academy
Affiliation for the purpose of offering dual credit courses on the campus of Shenandoah Valley Academy.

Takoma Academy
Agreement to permit juniors and seniors in good academic standing to enroll in classes on the WAU campus.

Adventist HealthCare
Agreement for contract education of both RN degree completion students and traditional Bachelor's degree nursing students.

Adventist Library Information Cooperative (ALICE)
Service which provides on-line access at reduced cost to multiple periodical indexes, some of which are full text.

American International Medical Univerity (AIM-U)
This international medical school, based in Saint Lucia, is partnering with Washington Adventist University for independent support programs and offers joint classes with WAU for the AIM-U Premedical Science Program on the WAU campus. Future AIM-U programs on the WAU campus may include BSN Completion and Introduction to Clinical Science, as well as the opportunity for AIM-U students to complete the WAU MBA program.

Washington Adventist University is a member of the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA). MICUA is a voluntary association that provides public policy leadership in support of independent higher education, fosters cooperative efforts among the member institutions and Maryland's public colleges and universities, serves as the official liaison between independent higher education and the State and Federal governments, and informs the citizens about the significance of its seventeen member institutions.

MICUA Member Institutions:

Baltimore Hebrew University was founded in 1919 as a college and teacher training school to promote Jewish academic excellence.

Baltimore International College is a regionally accredited, independent college offering specialized baccalaureate and associate degrees in culinary arts and business and management.

Capitol College, Maryland's only college dedicated exclusively to engineering and related fields, prepares student for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and technical management for the information age.

The oldest Catholic women's college in the nation, the College of Notre Dame of Maryland is a four-year liberal arts college sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

Goucher College is an independent, coeducational liberal arts and sciences college with an interdisciplinary emphasis that combines intensive classroom study with extensive off-campus and international programs.

Founded more than 100 years ago, Hood College emphasizes excellence in the liberal arts as preparation for successful careers, fulfilling lives, and responsible citizenship.

The first comprehensive research university in the new nation, Johns Hopkins University has achieved an international reputation for excellence in education, research, and health care.

Loyola College in Maryland is a Catholic comprehensive university, in the educational and spiritual traditions of the Society of Jesus and the Religious Sisters of Mercy, dedicated to the ideals of liberal education and the practice of cura personalis.

Maryland Institute College of Art, which celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2001, is consistently ranked among the top tier of U.S. art colleges.

McDaniel College, founded in 1867 as Western Maryland College, was the first coeducational institution south of the Mason-Dixon line and remains strong in its liberal arts tradition while offering innovative educational experiences.

Founded when Thomas Jefferson was President, Mount St. Mary's University has been nationally praised for its comprehensive core curriculum and adult studies programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels in business and education.

Founded in 1933, Ner Israel Rabbinical College is one of the foremost centers of Torah learning in the world. Receives no direct State aid.

Committed to the concept of education within the context of the community, Sojourner-Douglass College offers baccalaureate and master's degrees in the applied social sciences.

St. John's College offers an interdisciplinary curriculum based on the reading and discussion of "Great Books" that are the original sources of our intellectual tradition.

Founded in 1791, the primary purpose of St. Mary's Seminary and University is to provide an outstanding spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral preparation of candidates for Roman Catholic priesthood. Receives no direct State aid

Stevenson University combines strong liberal arts and sciences with leading-edge technologies, preparing students for careers or graduate education in information technology, business, science and biotechnology, nursing, education, art, and other professions.
