New Student Orientation

We welcome you into our community of scholars. We want to provide you the opportunity to become more familiar with the campus culture, guidelines and policies of your specific academic programs, and ways you can contribute to the life and vitality of WAU.

Please review the Academic Bulletin; try to spend time with department chairs and professors. The Betty Howard Center for Student Success is able and ready to assist you with tools to become a successful student.  We realize the first year is often the hardest; this is why it is important for you to attend the orientation programs and informative workshops to keep abreast of our learning community.

Remember, only you can decide your future, but we are here to help so let us know what we can do to assist you every step of the way.

Here are details regarding the next upcoming New Student Orientation:

New Student Orientation is scheduled to begin on  Monday, January 6, with check- in for residence hall students. On Tuesday, January 7, orientation check-in begins at 8:00 am in the Sligo Church Atrium, and the official program kicks off at 9:00 am with a welcome from the University Provost, Dr. Cheryl Kisunzu,  and other administrators. A number of informative workshops have been planned that will help you make a smooth transition into the campus community. The entire orientation program schedule is attached. Please note that this is a tentative schedule and that updates will be made as needed and posted on the website.  Although you are expected to attend this program, we are asking you to RSVP and  confirm your attendance by completing the form that can be accessed via the orientation link on the university’s web site.  Please submit your RSVP by January 2 so that we can be well prepared to offer you an outstanding experience.
