Welcome to the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness! Our mission is to facilitate informed decision-making at Washington Adventist University's via the practices of Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness.

Institutional Research

Within the Institutional Research (IR) discipline, this office collects, analyzes, and reports a vast pool of quantitative and qualitative data about their institution's students, faculty, staff, and course offerings. This information is then provided to various governing bodies, to accrediting agencies, and to various college guide publishers, as well as to the leadership and administration of the college.

As an example of the Institutional Research activities of this office, the Washington Adventist University’s Facts and Figures has been published annually since 1991. This document provides longitudinal data for several institutional characteristics. Glance through the document to see administration demographics, enrollment demographics and statistics, and admissions information.

In the past, this data was provided in the form of a bound hardcopy book that was published and provided to a select group of individuals-- at a cost. We are providing access to this information via this site to 1) broaden the dissemination of this information and 2) eliminate the costs associated with producing a hard copy.

Institutional Effectiveness

This office provides for Institutional Effectiveness (IE) at Washington Adventist University by narrowing the broad focus of college data on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which are key metrics that are used to help an organization determine how successful it is. KPIs are also used to benchmark an organization against other related organizations within an area of interest.  These are tracked on a Balanced Scorecard.

Also included within the scope of Institutional Effectiveness is the following:

• Creation of a five year Strategic Plan, with prioritization and assignments to college leaders.
• Creation of an annual Operating Plan.
• Establishing accountability against the Operating plan by ensuring that the successful completion of each Action is defined as a measurable metric.
• Evaluating progress against the Strategic and Operating Plans by conducting mid-year and annual check points.
• Eventual link to budgetary and leadership performance evaluation.

A new working group has recently been established to address Institutional Effectiveness at Washington Adventist University. This group, under leadership of this office, will define and measure against the college’s KPIs, as well as evaluating the college’s progress against the overall five year Strategic Plan and each year’s Operating Plan.
