The Leonard Alvin Gregory Endowed Scholarship

Gregory_LALeonard Alvin Gregory was born in 1925 at the St. Helena Sanatorium in Deer Park, where his father worked as a staff doctor. His mother was a graduate from the College of Medical Evangelists.

Young Leonard showed promise of becoming a hard worker early in his life. By the age of nine, Leonard worked as a hay baler on a friend’s ranch. He attended Adventist schools in his youth and graduated from Pacific Union College Preparatory School. While attending Pacific Union College, he met and fell in love with Marie Ann Guido, whom he married in 1946. Leonard graduated from Pacific Union College in 1949, where he had taken pre-med requirements. Leonard and Marie had always wanted a large family and had four children between the years of 1948-1956. Leonard worked as a medical technician until 1953 when he enrolled in medical school. He graduated from Loma Linda University in 1957.

Dr. Gregory completed his medical internship at Portland Adventist Hospital and in 1958 moved to Anderson, California, where he started a medical practice that continued for 20 yeas until his retirement in 1978.

Dr. Gregory is a staunch believer in Christian education. He provided a Christian education for his four children and helped many others students with their tuition needs as well. Dr. Gregory has a long history of promoting Christian education and Christian values, and he is a strong supporter of his local Adventist church.

The funds from the Leonard Alvin Gregory Endowed Scholarship help Columbia Union College students who demonstrate Christian involvement and commitment and who are working to pay their school bills. The fund was established by Leonard Alvin Gregory’s daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Rick Williams.
