Washington Adventist University Earns Strong Rankings in 2027 U.S. News Best Colleges Report

In the newly released rankings, WAU received recognition in three key categories:
- No. 4 – Top Performers on Social Mobility
- No. 18 – Top Private Schools
- No. 47 – Regional Universities North
The No. 4 social mobility ranking is particularly significant for WAU. U.S. News evaluates social mobility in part by examining how successfully colleges enroll and graduate economically disadvantaged students, including students who receive federal Pell Grants.
For WAU, the recognition reflects the university’s longstanding commitment to creating pathways to higher education for students from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and educational backgrounds. Located just outside Washington, D.C., WAU serves a diverse student population while providing an educational experience grounded in academic excellence, faith, service and moral leadership.

WAU’s placement at No. 47 among Regional Universities North also reflects the university’s growing position within a competitive group of institutions across the region.
