Washington Adventist University (WAU) was founded in 1904. We are located on a quiet campus that is within a mile away from Washington, D.C. With an easy access to enjoy the Nation’s Capital, and everything the city has to offer, you can find no better place to grow.
Even though we are located close to the city, we maintain a friendly environment with a student population of 1,100 students of all faiths representing 40 different countries. Our classroom ratio is an average of 14 students to 1 professor.
As a student of WAU, you will have options to engage with other students to create meaningful relationships as you take part in 33 clubs and student organizations. We have a strong engagement of students in areas of Law, Business, Honors, and Music.
If you are interested in sports, WAU is recognized by National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with active sports such as soccer, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, softball, and cross country.

Undergraduate International Admissions
In order to get accepted to Washington Adventist University for any of the undergraduate programs, you must provide:
- An application – Fill out and submit an online application (no application fee)
- Official Transcripts – Documents must be translated to English. Student who have attended another university outside of the U.S. prior to applying to Washington Adventist University must provide their transcripts to be evaluated and translated through World Education Services .
- Submit Test Scores such as IELTS or TOEFL – Minimal score for IELTS is 6.0 or TOEFL is 68
- Letter of Recommendation
- International Student Information from the U.S. Government
- SEVIS – I-20
