In addition to its regular summer offerings, Washington Adventist University will offer two special summer programs in 2014. Both of these are designed to enhance student success and highlight the richness of Washington DC Metropolitan Area arts and humanities offerings. President Weymouth Spence, Ed.D. , will host a reception, Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m., at the historic Votaw house. This will be followed, April 13, with a tour of Historic Annapolis, US Navy Academy, and Maryland State House, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lois and Leroy Peters, major donors for whom the new music building is named, will be the featured speakers at vespers, Friday at 7 p.m. in Sligo Church sanctuary. The WAU Concert Winds will perform.
Sabbath afternoon will see the grand opening and dedication of the Betty Howard Student Success Center located in Wilkinson Hall, beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by a concert at 6 p.m. by the Department of Music and the New England Youth Ensemble in Sligo Church Sanctuary.
Activities with culminate with the grand opening of the Leroy and Lois Peters music center at 8 p.m., followed by the unveiling of the Virginia Rittenhouse Memorial.
On April 15, the Alumni Association will host a brunch and business meeting at 10:30 a.m in the Wilkinson Hall dining room.
