A first generation student is one whose parents have not graduated from a two- or four-year college or university.
Nearly 40% of the student population at WAU is composed of first generation students. We want to ensure the academic and social needs of our students are met, in order for them to successfully complete college.
Here are the goals of the program:
Becoming an ambassador is a great opportunity to demonstrate the value you have for your education, while playing an active role in your community.
Beginning in Fall 2012, some of our First Generation Ambassador Program (FGAP) participants will be mentoring first generation high school students, and will be helping them prepare for the college application process.
Other FGAP participants will be volunteering their time at Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington (ACS) by:
Yes. However, if you are not a first generation student, there will still be opportunities for you to participate in service activities with the group.
Applications are available in the Betty Howard Center for Student Success, located in Wilkinson Hall, Room 133. Once you have completed your application, you will be contacted for an interview. For more information, call 301-891-4108 or send an email to email@example.com.
