Biography:

Laurien Laufman is an artist of international stature, having performed as soloist throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, South America, India, and The People’s Republic of China. She studied with such eminent cellists as Janos Starker, Aldo Parisot, Andre Navarra, and Paul Tortelier. She won the 1975 Concert Artists Guild in NYC, and was awarded the silver medal in the 1976 International Villa-Lobos Competition in Rio de Janeiro. Ms Laufman comes to Washington DC as Professor Emeritus from the University of Illinois School of Music where she taught for 25 years.
