Washington Adventist University Offers Data Analytics Concentration to Prepare Students for High-Growth Careers

TAKOMA PARK, Md. — In an era driven by data, Washington Adventist University (WAU) is equipping students to lead with its Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program, offering a specialized concentration in Business Data Analytics.
With a projected annual growth rate of 10 to 25 percent between 2025 and 2032, the demand for data analytics professionals is surging. This surge is driven by the exponential rise in data generation and the increasing need for organizations to turn raw data into actionable insights. Major industries hiring graduates with these skills include technology, consulting firms, finance and banking, insurance, retail and e-commerce, transportation, and healthcare.
WAU’s program focuses on building interdisciplinary skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. Students also gain hands-on experience using industry-standard tools like Tableau, Excel, and SQL to retrieve, analyze, and synthesize data.
Graduates can pursue roles such as Business Intelligence Analyst, with starting salaries between $75,000 and $85,000, or Business Data Analyst, earning between $55,000 and $80,000. Other career opportunities include Information Security Analyst, with salaries up to $79,370, and Data Management Specialist, starting between $55,780 and $87,700.
The Business Data Analytics concentration features 22 credit hours of specialized coursework, including classes such as Data Ethics and Privacy, Predictive Analytics in Business, and Business Data Warehousing and Data Mining. Additionally, students complete 45 credit hours of core business courses, 8 credit hours of cognates, and 44 credit hours of general education courses.
Courses like Principles of Accounting, Business Law, Business Finance, and International Business Environment provide a solid foundation in business administration. Technical skills are developed through courses in computer science and database design, ensuring graduates can effectively leverage data to inform business strategies.
