22 Days of Prayer
| Takoma Park, MD | February 2, 2022 |

| On January 22nd, Campus Ministries launched a series called 22 Days of Prayer. For the past three days the university has embarked on this journey of prayer through morning devotionals prayerfully created and put together by Chaplain Jason Dietz. The WAU community is invited to assume a heart posture of meditation, intercession, and communion with Christ. This series was inspired by the many challenges we are still facing as residues of 2020. “As we prayerfully enter into the 22 days of prayer,” says Chapain Dietz, “you will strengthen your relationship with the Lord, grow in your spirit-filled experience, and your prayer life will become more consistent and effective. The core text is Matthew 18:19, “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by my father in heaven. “There is great power, encouragement, and spiritual strength in united prayer,” says Chaplain Dietz, “I wanted these devotionals to be as relatable as possible so that every student, faculty, and saff reading it can find something that speaks to them personally. Something that hits home and stirs them up inwardly to be intentional throughout these 22 days and accept the call to action.” On top of the calls to action at the end of each devotional, the Office of Ministry has set up weekly prayer gathering sessions – both in person and virtually – for staff and students. On Tuesdays faculty, staff, and students come together for 10 minutes in the lobby of Wilkinson Hall to join their voices in prayer. On Thursday the gathering happens via zoom, giving the broader WAU community a chance to join in and participate. This initiative by the Office of Ministry has been a tremendous blessing to the WAU community. Uniting their voices to intercede for one another and pray a special blessing over our entire community, while the world around us seems to be falling apart. If you would like extra prayer or want to learn more about how you can take a more active part in this series, we encourage you to reach out to the Office of Ministry at ministry@wau.edu. The 22 Days of Prayer will continue, and be officially resumed on February 12th in the Student Activity Center. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, the event will also be livestreamed. |
