Biography:
Dr. Helen S John Wilson is the Associate Director and Professor in the Department of Nursing at Washington Adventist University, MD. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Nursing from Dr. MGR University, India. She pursued higher education and received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with an emphasis on leadership and education from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2013, and completed her Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2020. Dr. Wilson’s research interests include managing agitation in traumatic brain injury patients and assessing the clinical skills competency of nursing students. Dr. Wilson is a Certified Nurse Educator and has more than 24 years of experience in nursing education. She designs and implements engaging learning experiences for nursing students, and actively assists in the ongoing development of a dynamic curriculum and achievement of program outcomes. Dr. Wilson’s professional background includes 5 years as Dean of Nursing in India and other leadership roles such as MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital House/Clinical Supervisor, Adventist HealthCare Professional Development Manager, Director of DC Metro Maryland Chapter of Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, Nurse Consultant and Evaluator of Colleges of Nursing in India, and Executive Board Member of Christian Medical Association of India. In addition, she has served in various committees at diverse clinical and academic settings. Dr. Wilson is very passionate about nursing education and is committed to making a difference in the nursing profession. She loves her students and finds immense satisfaction to see her students develop into competent professionals.
