As the vibrant Spring Semester of 2024 unfolded, the International Student Services at WAU ushered in a wave of excitement, camaraderie, and academic excellence.
The semester kicked off with a bustling New Student Orientation on January 4th, where eager undergraduates and graduates from across the globe gathered to embark on their academic journey. We had new and transfer students representing countries in Africa, Asia, South America, and the UK with an array of majors and bright minds eagerly delved into their new chapter at WAU.
Throughout the semester, the International Student Services kept the spirit of community alive with their Monthly Tea Time, a cherished tradition held every second Monday of the month. Here, students mingled with office staff and peers, sipped tea, and shared stories, fostering connections and planning club activities.

March blossomed with the beauty of the Annual Cherry Blossom DC Trip and Photo Contest, a joyous excursion around the Tidal Basin. Students marveled at nature’s splendor while capturing moments of serenity. The photo contest sparked creativity, rewarding participants with accolades and cash prizes.
As the semester drew to a close, it was a time of celebration and reflection. Thirteen remarkable international students, poised to embark on new adventures, were honored for their academic achievements. Each received a coveted “Global Thinkers” medallion, symbolizing their intellect and global perspective. Faculty, staff, and peers gathered for the End of Semester Celebration, savoring international delicacies and bidding farewell to graduating seniors with fond memories and best wishes for the future.
In the tapestry of the Spring Semester of 2024, students, faculty, and staff wove threads of diversity, friendship, and academic excellence, fostering an environment where students thrived and memories were made to last a lifetime.

Amidst the rigors of academia, a moment of respite arrived on March 4th with the Games and Movie Night. Students indulged in card games, board games, and cinematic delights, letting laughter and relaxation wash away the stresses of midterm exams.
Celebrating academic achievements is a tradition at WAU. This semester we proudly awarded Academic Excellence Certificates to 57 outstanding students for their stellar performance of obtaining a semester Grade Point Average of 3.0 and above during the Fall 2023 semester. 70% of these students were on the Dean’s List with a GPA of 3.5 – 4.0. Their dedication and hard work shone brightly, earning them well-deserved recognition.
As finals approached, the Study and Snack & Tutoring Night provided a haven for students to prepare diligently. Guided by supportive tutors and faculty, they immersed themselves in study sessions, fueled by an abundance of snacks.
