Today, January 20th, 2021, the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris took place, and history was made. Though we all couldn’t come together in-person, WAU students, faculty, and staff united to watch this momentous occasion via Zoom. The new leadership that was sealed today, we pray that it continues for a better tomorrow.
From the past year to the present time, the United States and the rest of the world have been going through the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has shocked the world and put a pause to time like nothing we have seen in years. Our hopes and dreams seemed to have now been shifted and focused on one thing — survival.
The inauguration today felt like a step forward in paused time. It changed the world’s focus to something other than just surviving, but of something bigger. As we watched the new leaders and performers take to the stage to ignite positive change, we were reminded it is never too late to make a mark in the world.
WAU and its community are excited to be progressing forward to that mark. The university stands united more than ever in working towards change. With God as our foundation, who can be against us? And though we know the road may not be easy, we know it’s the one worth fighting for.
