Former City Council
Carol Varner graduated from Union College Academy in 1955 and attended Union College the following year.
Carol produced the radio show “Londis on Line, Speaking of Ethics” for Jim Londis when he was president of the Washington Institute of Contemporary Issues. In 1997, she was elected to the City Council of the City of Takoma Park and was reelected two more times.
She has been a board member of the Takoma Foundation, Silver Spring/Takoma Park Thunderbolts, WGTS 91.9 radio station, and Washington Adventist Hospital.
Carol met her husband, children’s librarian Sean Varner, at Sligo SDA Church in 2008. Together they raise and show Whippets, produce Christian sound recordings, and travel the US sharing the love of Christ.
