Marvin Brown – III President of Allegheny West Conference of SDA
Marvin Brown, III found Christ and was baptized in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a graduate of Pine Forge Academy, Pineforge, PA. He then obtained his B.A. in Religion from Oakwood University, Huntsville, Alabama, and his M.A. in Pastoral Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary, Ashland Ohio.
He began his ministry as a Pastor in the North Caribbean Conference in the United States Virgin Islands in 1979 as a Pastor on the island of St. Croix. He ultimately transitioned to the Allegheny West Conference in 1983, where he pastored in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia prior to becoming a Departmental Director in Allegheny West in the area of Stewardship and Ministerial.
In 2013, he was elected as Executive Vice President, where he served until being elected as President to fill the remainder of the quadrennial session, which ended in October of 2021.
He is married to Grace C Brown., Certified Nurse Certified Anesthetist., of Zambia, Africa. They have two Sons: Marvin Christopher, 31, a graduate of Yale University Law School New Haven, CT and a Corporate Attorney in Cleveland, Ohio; and Marsalis Christian, 28, a graduate of Case Western Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio doing his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at University Hospital Cleveland Ohio
