Vijayan Charles

Surgeon – Prince George’s Hospital

Dr. Charles received his medical degree in 1964 from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. After residencies in India, New Jersey and Maryland, he conducted experimental work in gastric hypothermia and lymphangiography and became a board certified surgeon by the American College of Surgeons, International College of Surgeons, and the American College of International Physicians. Hospital appointments include Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, Maryland and Doctor Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland. He is a member of several medical societies. 

Vijayen Charles has been an elder, lay pastor and church board official of the Seabrook Seventh day Adventist Church since 1986, and is a member of the Board of Trustees at Washington Adventist University. He has also held or currently holds leadership positions at various nonprofit organizations, hospitals and the Prince George’s County Medical Society. He currently lives in Greenbelt, Maryland.
