Steve Jones is an active jazz pianist and piano technician in the DC area. He learned piano tuning and repair initially from Phil Jones – his father, and then studied with Ollie Braymer, RPT, who served as the piano technician at Wolf Trap. For thirty years Steve has been a member of the Piano Technicians Guild, which trains and provides ongoing training and development for piano technicians. Steve became an RPT (Registered Piano Technician) in 1994, and has been an officer of the local Chapter of the Guild for a number of years.
Steve Jones association with Washington Adventist University began more than 30 years ago. He directs the WAU Jazz Ensemble, teaches guitar and jazz piano, and teaches composition at WAU. He has composed two jazz operas: “Forgotten,” which was performed in 6 different cities (www.forgottenshow.net), and “Love Songs from the Liberation Wars,” selections of which Professor Deborah Thurlow directed, with assistance from Professor Anwar Ottley and a student cast, in Spring 2018.
