Lady Shock Lends a Hand to Admissions Office

Team member Briana McClain says she volunteers with the office because she believes the principle of teamwork applies on and off the court.

“Team work makes the dream work,” McClain says. “Our coach was in need of help so my teammates and I took it upon ourselves to return the love that she shows us daily.”

Team mate Jerria Brown-McDaniel agrees.

“A single leaf provides no shade,’ she says. “ As a team, we came together to multiply the success in athletics by assisting our coach with follow ups with prospective student athletes!”

For Angelica Nevarez, it is about the selflessness and the beauty of teamwork.

“It makes you become selfless as our coaches have taught us to be,” she says.

And for Vanessa Rice it’s about the beauty of giving back.

“Coach Byrd does a lot and teaches us something new every day, so it is my pleasure to help her,” she says.

The Admissions Office reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Recruitment, William Jackson. The office currently has four full time staff, including Byrd.
