Washington Adventist University’s WGTS 91.9 Radio Teams Up with Salvation Army Angel Tree Project
Takoma Park, Md. (December 16, 2017) Listeners to Washington Adventist University’s WGTS 91.9 radio station are helping underprivileged children by contributing to the Salvation Army Angel Tree Project. Morning show hosts Jerry and Blanca anchored a live broadcast from Potomac Mills Mall in Virginia that featured interviews with Salvation Army leaders and client families about the importance of the Angel Tree. They also invited listeners to provide gifts for specific children by taking their name tags off an “Angel Tree.”
This year, the program is providing toys, clothes and necessities for approximately 14,000 children in the Washington D.C. area. In just one afternoon, WGTS listeners sponsored almost all of the children from one county.
“WGTS listeners are so generous and we appreciate their support of the Salvation Army and of the children we serve,” said Major Leisa Hall.
“Any time we can engage our listeners face to face and do something that immediately impacts the community, especially children, it fits with the DNA of the station as we seek to serve our community,” said WGTS 91.9 General Manager Kevin Krueger.
WGTS 91.9 is located on the campus of Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park. The station features Christian music, uplifting messages and personal stories of hope.
