Washington Adventist University Welcomes Sonica Nakka as New Office Manager of the Nursing Department
TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) — Washington Adventist University (WAU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sonica Nakka as the new Office Manager of the Nursing Department. With a solid background in healthcare and office administration, Nakka brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to ensuring efficient and effective office management.

Nakka’s work experience is extensive and varied. She has served as Nursing Faculty at Saint Michael College of Allied Health, where she developed her teaching and leadership skills. Her administrative experience includes roles as a Personal Assistant at Space Wing (ISRO) at the Embassy of India and as an Admissions Coordinator at the American International Medical University. She also worked as a Receptionist at Cloverly Family Dental, where she honed her organizational and customer service abilities.
Nakka holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) from Washington Adventist University and a Bachelor of Science in Physiology & Neurobiology from the University of Maryland. She also earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Montgomery College, highlighting her broad academic foundation.
In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Nakka has engaged in various extracurricular activities. She completed an internship as a Neuro-ICU Staff Nurse at Apollo Hospitals and an externship at Washington Adventist Hospital, where she assisted in the Short Stay Unit. Nakka also served as a Library Assistant at McKeldin Library, managing inventory, and was actively involved in the Pathfinder program at the Southern Asian SDA Church, focusing on community service and leadership training.
As Office Manager of the Nursing Department at WAU, Nakka aims to utilize her strong organizational and leadership skills to support the department’s goals and ensure smooth operations. Her diverse background and dedication to excellence make her a valuable addition to the WAU community.
