Washington Adventist University (WAU) has announced the appointment of Nedelka Sellers as the new Freshman Experience and Progressions Coordinator, effective Feb. 24, 2025. Sellers, who has served WAU faithfully for over seven years, brings a deep commitment to student success and campus engagement to her new role.

Sellers began her journey at WAU on Sept. 5, 2017, when she was hired as the Administrative Assistant at the Center for Student Success following a series of virtual interviews from her home in upstate New York. She later traveled to campus for an in-person interview with the Betty Howard Center for Student Success (BHCSS) panel and was hired by former BHCSS Dean Dr. Ralph Johnson.

For seven and a half years, Sellers served as the face of the Center for Student Success, managing reception, assisting with Disability Services, proctoring Accuplacer placement tests and testing accommodations, overseeing the WAU Tutoring Center and Study Hall, and supporting the International Student Program. She worked alongside several Center deans and First-Year Experience (FYE) Coordinators during her tenure.

Her passion for partnering with students in their academic journey led her to pursue the long-vacant FYE Coordinator position. Now, as the Freshman Experience and Progressions Coordinator, Sellers is committed to supporting first-year students and helping them thrive at WAU.

“First and foremost, I’m following God’s lead in this new chapter,” Sellers said. “My goal is to work collaboratively across campus to help fulfill WAU’s mission of producing competent moral leaders.”

Sellers earned her Associate of Arts in Office Technologies from SUNY Orange County Community College in Middletown, N.Y., in 2009. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to school, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from WAU in Spring 2023. She began her Master of Business Administration studies at WAU’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies in Spring 2025.

The university community congratulates Sellers on her new role and wishes her continued success in her graduate studies and service to WAU students.
