Divya Gupta, President and CEO of G.R.I.D.S. Consulting, visited Washington Adventist University (WAU) on Wednesday to speak to students in Dr. John Okon’s business class. Gupta shared her professional journey, insights on brand marketing, and lessons on leadership and entrepreneurship with aspiring business professionals.
With more than 25 years of experience in finance, strategic planning, market research, communications, and brand marketing, Gupta leads G.R.I.D.S., a global boutique consulting firm. She discussed key aspects of brand development, emphasizing the importance of identifying a brand’s unique selling proposition (USP) and the role of authenticity in leadership.
“Think outside the lines, not just the box,” Gupta advised students, encouraging them to innovate and remain true to themselves in their professional pursuits.
Gupta’s career includes strategic roles at Adventist HealthCare and Marriott International, where she contributed to major projects such as the integration of Ritz-Carlton and J.W. Marriott brands at “L.A. Live.” She also highlighted her work with nonprofit organizations and her campaign, “Be Authentic U,” which promotes self-expression and authenticity among women leaders.
In 2024, Gupta was a featured speaker at Princeton University’s Business Today 50th International Conference in New York, where she shared her entrepreneurial journey and the importance of self-worth, even during challenging times—including launching her firm while experiencing homelessness.
Gupta’s presentation at WAU resonated with students, who engaged in a dynamic Q&A session, gaining practical advice on business development, branding, and career growth. Dr. Okon expressed appreciation for Gupta’s visit, noting the value of real-world experience in enriching classroom learning.
Gupta resides in Rockville, Md., and continues to volunteer as a musician and athlete to promote creativity and wellness among young adults.
