Sanjay Thomas, born and raised in Maryland, has strong ties to Adventist education. He attended John Nevins Andrews School and Takoma Academy where he received a solid academic and spiritual foundation. After attending the University of Maryland at College Park and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Bachelor of Science in Finance, and a Citation in Philosophy, he went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University in Virginia. Sanjay then experienced life-changing perspectives as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable George L. Russell, III at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City and became a passionate advocate for strengthening communities in Baltimore and other parts of Maryland.
In 2018, Sanjay was a primary candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates from the 40th Legislative District and continues to use his leadership to improve schools, churches, and organizations. He was a delegate to the General Conference Session in 2015 and 2022 and enjoyed being on the Columbia Union Executive Committee from 2012 to 2022. He has served as a church elder and mentor for 18 years. Most recently, Sanjay was the board chair for Takoma Academy Preparatory School from 2020 to 2024 and is currently the school’s board vice-chair, as well as a board member of Takoma Academy and LivingWell.
Sanjay is the owner of multiple Allstate Insurance agencies and a Master Certified Life Coach. He is relationship-oriented and possesses varied interests. As a younger brother, husband since 2016, and father since 2023, he finds joy spending time with his family and friends, learning about history and geography, playing basketball, and persistently hoping for a Cowboys Super Bowl win. Sanjay thrives on building connections, supporting communities, and sharing the Word with others.
