COVID-19 trends in our area, on August 5, 2020 – the Montgomery County Health Officer issued a directive against in-person Instruction at private schools. Therefore, though WAU had been previously planning for in-person learning for our Fall 2020 – we have made the decision to continue to conduct Fall 2020 Semester Courses through distance learning.
LECTURES for all courses will be conducted online through virtual classrooms such as ZOOM or GoogleMeets. Classes will begin with synchronous distance learning. Synchronous learning means that students will log on to their classes with the distance learning “link” provided by the faculty member at the regular time that the class is scheduled. (Note: SGPS classes will begin Sunday, 8/30/20 & Traditional Students will begin 8/31/20 – Monday).
LECTURES will be taught through distance learning on the same day and time as published in WAU WebAdvisor.
TEXTBOOKS can be obtained by students who are enrolled in hybrid courses may come to campus to obtain textbooks. TEXTBOOKS can also be mailed to students through our WAU Bookstore by completing the required TEXTBOOK REQUEST FORM
HYBRID COURSE REQUIREMENTS: The majority of students will study remotely, except for some courses involvinglab, clinical, or internship. Students in these hybrid courses for programs such as nursing – will be informed by their faculty regarding in-person learning requirements. These requirements will also be stated in the course syllabus. The course syllabus will be posted on our student learning platform, D2L. If a student is unable to complete the in-person course requirement, students will be advised to register and take those degree courses which do not have the in-person requirement or it may be that the student will receive an incomplete for the course.
INTERNSHIPS will be completed virtually or in the student’s location, as approved by the faculty.
LIBRARY access can be obtained on-line through the WAU website
TUTORING with other success resources, (e.g., Grammarly, TURNITIN) can be obtained through D2L
COVID-19 NEGATIVE TEST results are required for students in courses with in-person learning requirements. The COVID-19 NEGATIVE CARD with results obtained between 8/24/20 and 8/31/20 will need to be submitted to the faculty member prior to coming on campus. Students without these results will not be able to participate in this in-person learning.
COVID-19 Daily WELLBEING Questionnaire, as available through our WAU App must be completed each day before the student comes to campus.
PPE – students are expected to wear masks when on campus.
SOCIAL DISTANCING – Students must practice social distancing when on campus
COVID-19 WELLBEING “Spirit of Community” Pledge must be completed and submitted to WAU Student Life during the week of 8/24/20 to 8/31/20
COVID-19 REOPENING guidelines are to be kept by all students who come to WAU for on-campus learning
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, as approved – will continue to reside in the Residence Hall
GRADES will be awarded as defined by the WAU Bulletin
