Achievements of Washington Adventist University Athletes Recognized Recently at Second Annual Awards Banquet

Takoma Park, Maryland (April 13, 2016) Washington Adventist University’s Athletics Department recently hosted its second annual awards banquet, celebrating outstanding play by the eight sports teams and recognizing the achievements of individual athletes.

The award categories included Most Valuable Player (MVP), awarded to the best-performing player; Most Improved Player (MIP); and the Coach’s Award, presented to the athlete who demonstrated the best overall team spirit.

Three USCAA (United States Athletic Collegiate Association) awards were also presented: All Tournament Team; Player of the Year, awarded to the best player in the USCAA in each sport/division; and All American Team.

“Everybody loves recognition, and we wanted to recognize our players for their hard work and dedication throughout the year,” said Patrick Crarey, Washington Adventist University Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach. This year, the men’s basketball team qualified for the second time since 1992 to participate in the USCAA Basketball National Championships, which were held in March in Uniontown, Pa.

Washington Adventist University is Montgomery County’s only four-year private college.
