Great Education, Great Value

We’ll work together to find a way to make a WAU education a reality for you.

Invest in Your Future with Confidence

At Washington Adventist University, we believe your education should empower your purpose, not limit it. That’s why we offer a wide range of scholarships, financial aid programs, and flexible payment options to help make your WAU journey possible.

Scholarships & Grants

WAU offers merit-based and need-based scholarships designed to recognize your hard work, character, and commitment to growth. Whether you’re an incoming freshman, a transfer student, or pursuing graduate studies, there’s financial support available to help you reach your goals.

Federal Direct Loans are low-interest loans funded by the U.S. Department of Education. These loans are available to both undergraduate and graduate students who qualify by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Types of Federal Direct Loans

  • Subsidized Loans (Undergraduate Only):

Awarded based on financial need. The U.S. Department of Education pays the interest while you’re enrolled at least half-time, during the grace period, and during deferment.

  • Unsubsidized Loans (Undergraduate & Graduate):

Not based on financial need. Interest begins accruing as soon as the loan is disbursed, but you can choose to defer payments while in school.

Parent PLUS Loans (Undergraduate)
Parents of dependent undergraduate students may apply for a Federal Parent PLUS Loan to help cover remaining educational expenses after other financial aid is applied. Credit approval is required.

Graduate and professional students may apply for a Federal Grad PLUS Loan. These loans require credit approval and may be used to cover up to the full cost of attendance, minus any other aid received.
Interest rates and fees are determined annually by the U.S. Department of Education.

If additional funds are needed after federal aid, students may explore private or alternative education loans through approved lending institutions. These loans are based on credit history and may require a co-signer.
Before applying, we encourage you to:

  • Review federal aid options first, they often have lower interest rates and more flexible repayment options.
  • Compare lenders and terms carefully.
  • Borrow only what you need for educational expenses.
