Biography:
Aleksandar S. Santrac, D.Phil., Ph.D. joined the faculty of Washington Adventist University as Professor of Ethics, Religion, and Philosophy and Chair of Religion and Philosophy Dept. in August 2015. Before coming to WAU, Aleksandar taught theology, philosophy and ethics at Belgrade Theological Seminary, Serbia where he was Academic Dean (1999-2006), at University of the Southern Caribbean, Trinidad, WI (2009-14) where he served as an Interim Dean (2011-12), and Paire College of Arts, Hamden, CT (2014-15) (as adjunct faculty of philosophy).
An ordained minister, Dr. Santrac, has a passion for evangelism and missionary work. He worked for almost ten years as an Evangelist and Public Speaker in the South-East European Union, and Education Direction in the same Union supervising high school and the Seminary. He also worked as an assistant pastor at the College Church of the University of the Southern Caribbean. Currently, he is an Elder at Atholton SDA Church and regular Sabbath School Teacher. Dr Santrac is also the member of Faith and Order Commission of the National Council of Churches and the North American Division Board for Ministerial and Theological Education.
Dr. Santrac loves cosmology, contemporary history, classical music, and movies with ethics content and basketball. He is also certified scuba diver.
Professional Activities:
Dr. Santrac is a member of many academic societies and has done post-doctoral studies at several prestigious universities, including Yale Divinity School, Notre Dame, Georgetown, DC and Catholic University of Paris, France. He is also the author of 7 books and around 50 academic and Christian articles including almost 40 academic presentations. Since 2012 he has served as a research professor for North-West University in South Africa and tutor for graduate studies at Greenwich School of Theology, UK.
