Written by: Jennifer Madera
TAKOMA PARK, Md. — Alumni Weekend 2025, held April 4–6, brought Washington Adventist University graduates together for a weekend of reflection, celebration and reconnection. From Friday’s welcome reception to Sunday’s closing brunch, the weekend served as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy and vibrant spirit of the WAU alumni community.

Festivities began Friday with a lively reception and registration in the Sligo Church Atrium. Alumni reconnected over light refreshments, collected commemorative gifts and received weekend programs before heading into the evening vespers service. Held in the Sligo Church Sanctuary, the vespers program featured musical performances, alumni participation and heartfelt testimonies from both current student missionaries and alumni who have served.

Saturday’s events began with morning registration and continued with the Sabbath worship service, where guest speaker Dr. Kumar Dixit delivered a powerful sermon titled “Burn.” His message, centered on purpose and transformation, resonated deeply with both alumni and students.

Throughout the day, residence hall and departmental open houses welcomed alumni back to campus and showcased the university’s ongoing growth. The evening concluded with the Reunion Celebration, where returning classes were honored, distinguished alumni recognized and guests enjoyed entertainment, giveaways and shared memories. The joyful gathering proved to be a highlight of the weekend.

Sunday morning featured a 20th Anniversary Brunch for the Honors College. Alumni, faculty and students gathered to celebrate two decades of academic excellence and leadership development. The program included reflections from graduates, tributes to key contributors and a shared appreciation for the Honors College’s impact.
As the university looks ahead to Alumni Weekend in April 2026, WAU remains committed to strengthening alumni engagement, updating contact records and personally inviting graduates to return and reconnect.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of Alumni Weekend 2025. We look forward to welcoming our alumni home again next year.
