FFF Sponsorship

WAU’s Family Fun Festival is the annual community celebration during WAU’s  Alumni Weekend. This year the festival will focus on “Community Safety, Education, and Wellness.” Although there will games, food and an array of outstanding Christian musicians, a special emphasis will be on the theme.

Purpose

The purpose of the festival is two-fold: (1) to showcase the village of WAU/WAH, as a “hub” for community resources; and, (2) raise funds for student-related projects in the community.

As a member of the Takoma Park and Montgomery County communities, this village has an abundance of resources in education and health to offer its residents. WAU offers a liberal arts education curriculum to prepare students to excel. WAU’s School of Health Professions,  Science and Wellness collaborates with Washington Adventist Hospital to assist with health disparities, high blood pressure screenings, First Aid and CPR classes. The Betty Howard Center for Student Success assists students with reading, writing, counseling, and testing. This is also the first stop for new students entering the campus.

We hope that this event will not only draw people to the village, but help engage and build a more intentional relationship with the community.

Sponsorships/Donors

A secondary purpose for the festival is to raise funds for student activities related to the community.  WAU has a thriving student population committed to community development and involvement. In September of 2012, more than 500 students participated in 27 projects throughout the county, as part of the annual Service Day program sponsored by WAU.  Our intent for this year is to be more community-focused and promote programs, resources and services of the WAU/WAH village that can benefit the community at large.  The goal is to raise $50,000 to support student-involved projects overseas, student missionary programs, and local projects in the bi-county area (Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland).
