Biography:

A native of India, Dr. Manuel, has diverse work experience of 40 years in Seventh-day Adventist institutions of higher learning in India, Singapore and Thailand as an educator, dean, department chair and classroom instructor. She joined Washington Adventist University (former Columbia Union College) in 2007 as Associate Director for the Center for Student Success and Professor of English.

Currently, Dr. Manuel serves as the Director for International Student Program and Primary Designated School Office (PDSO). Her principal responsibilities include overseeing a full range of services and programs of the university’s international and multicultural students and their dependents; interpret immigration regulations and develop university policies for advising students on immigration and academic matters.

She is passionate about meeting the needs of the international students and making sure that they are well-cared for.

Current Research or Professional Activities:

Dr. Manuel has published literary articles, essays and poetry in many scholarly journals. Her research interest includes effective approaches to teaching literature and teaching writing to ESL learners. She also conducts seminars and workshops on learning strategies and academic success. Dr. Manuel is passionate about student achievement and encourages and promotes academic excellence on campus.
