Federal Career Fair attracted hundreds last week to the Washington Adventist University campus in Takoma Park
Takoma Park, MD (November 24, 2015) A federal career fair hosted at Washington Adventist University (WAU) in Takoma Park last week attracted more than 250 students and alumni. The November 19 event was sponsored by the university and Federal Asian Pacific American Council.
More than 35 federal agencies recruited students and alumni for permanent positions and internships at the mid-day event. Among the agencies that participated were the Central Intelligence Agency; Customs and Border Protection (CBP); Drug Enforcement Administration, Washington DC Division Office; Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; Federal Bureau of Investigation, Washington Field Office; Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); Federal Highway Safety Administration, Department of Transportation; Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC); Health and Human Services; Intelligence Community; National Guard Bureau, Army National Guard; Natural Resources Conservation Service; Naval Intelligence Agency; Nuclear Regulatory Commission; Office of Personnel Management; Smithsonian Museum of American History; Transportation Security Administration; U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); U.S. Secret Service (USSS); USDA – Forest Service; USDA – Agricultural Research Service; and Veterans Affairs.
In addition, two workshops were offered to students and alumni who attended the career fair. “Interviewing for a Federal Government Job” was presented by Craig Francois from the federal Office of Personnel Management; and “How to Find Jobs with the Federal Government” was presented by Selina Lee from the Federal Asian Pacific American Council.
“It was nice to be able to offer our students and alumni the convenience of a federal career fair on campus, and we are grateful to our federal partners for helping us put this together,” said Nicole Currier, dean of the university’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
