First Annual Carlington Harvey Summer Soccer Camp Deemed a Success at Washington Adventist University

Takoma Park, Md. (July 1, 2016) Carlington Harvey’s first annual Summer Soccer Camp at Washington Adventist University concluded today. It was held daily, June 27 – July 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for children between the ages of 6 and 16. Participants this year numbered 17.

“The camp was a success, and we are planning to conduct two soccer camps next year,” said Harvey.  “The first will be a community outreach camp dedicated to beginners, and the second will be for advanced players, similar to those I coach daily.”

Players learned such skills as controlling the ball and passing and shooting with both feet. They also learned to read the game and move quickly on and off the ball, according to Harvey.

“Most importantly,” said Harvey, “this year’s participants gained respect for their fellow campers, friendship, and a love of the game.”

Washington Adventist Community strives to give back to the community, and the summer sports camps offer programs to keep local children healthy and active.
