Biography:

Dr. Leitma has maintained a lifelong passionate and professional interest for psychology. In particular, he has an active interest in mental health issues, counselor education, and neuropsychology. He chairs the undergraduate and graduate psychology and counseling programs at WAU since 2006 and has been on the faculty since 1982. Dr. Leitma holds memberships in the American Psychological Association, American Counseling Association, Maryland Counseling Association, and Adventist Association of Family Life Professionals. He is the advisor for Psi Chi, The International Honor Society for Psychology, since 1989 at WAU.

Research and Professional Activities:

Dr. Leitma actively promotes the holistic nature of man in the classroom and in publications for understanding psychology and counseling from a biblical worldview. He has been a contributor to Vibrant Life, Adventist World, and Journal of Adventist Education. His major area of interest is pursuing how a balanced brain contributes to mental, physical, and spiritual health. He has published articles about such topics as spirituality, exercise, personality, and vital force. He annually attends the American Counseling Association conference on counselor education and supervision.
