Biography:
Professor Persaud has been in the healthcare system since 1989. Since then, she has worked with many disciplines of the healthcare profession. Her love and passion for nursing and nursing education have continued to drive her to remain active in the nursing practice. She works as a sub-community health nurse in the Montgomery Public County Schools. Persaud has been a registered nurse for 19 years, and an education specialist for 3 years at Washington Adventist Hospital. She has been working with the Washington Adventist University (WAU) Nursing Department since 2013, as an adjunct faculty (clinical instructor) for courses: Medical/Surgical; Health Assessment; Leadership and Management and Maternal Child. She also currently works with the seniors to prepare them for the NCLEX-RN examination (Nursing Synthesis course).
She enjoys Disney movies and loves to stay at home with a book. Persaud loves dancing and singing. Her motto is to love God, have courage, and always be kind to each other.
Special Interests:
Persaud takes a special interest in Health promotion, Women’s Health, Community and Environmental Health, and in creating strong, compassionate leaders for the nursing profession who will continue, not only to administer safe and effective nursing care to the public, but to be advocates for the nursing profession.
Professional Activities:
She is a member of the American Nurses Association/Maryland Nurses Association and has published the article “Keeping the Faith in Nursing”. From Washington Adventist Hospital, Persaud received the Nurse of the Year Award.
