There are some majors and minors on campus that are only offered through the Honors College, making them both special and unique. The majors the Honors College offers are: English, History, Political Studies, and Honors Interdisciplinary Studies. The Honors College also offers the Pre-Law Pre-Professional Track. Here are some details about each of these offerings.
History and Political Studies

Washington Adventist University provides excellent opportunities for
students interested in history, law, government and politics. The nation’s
capital is home to unparalleled resources, including the Library of Congress,
the National Archives, the Smithsonian Institution, the Holocaust Memorial
Museum, Capitol Hill, advocacy organizations, think tanks, the General
Conference Archives and the Ellen G. White Estate.
The university’s affiliation with the Center for Law and Public Policy, in
particular, enhances access to the resources of Washington, D.C., through
internships, conferences, legislative advocacy and intercollegiate moot court
competition. Students who demonstrate scholarly excellence in the study
of history may earn membership in WAU’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the

Pre-Law and Legal Studies

Students interested in the study of law can add a Pre-Professional Pre-Law Curriculum program to their course of study. WAU is the only Seventh-day Adventist university that offers a formal curriculum as part of a pre-law emphasis. The program is open to students in any major and consists of a set of courses that are focused on the development of skills in analytical thinking and persuasive discourse, along with the introductory study of the American legal system. Our program also includes an Advisory Board of practicing attorneys who help us with curriculum decisions and are available as mentors for our students. Students who graduate with this program will have the Pre-Law designation listed on their official transcript. That’s not always the case with other such programs!
Washington, DC is a premier location for pre-law and legal studies. The WAU Honors College takes our location seriously and uses it to give students unparallelled opportunities. In addition to a dedicated pre-law curriclum, WAU also boasts the only Mock Trial team in the SDA system and the Center for Law and Public Policy, an academic center that puts students right in the thick of current events in law, public policy, and SDA church activities.
