Washington Adventist University and Helderberg College Sign Two-Year Agreement

Takoma Park, Md. (June 1, 2016) Washington Adventist University and Helderberg College in South Africa have recently entered into a partnership agreement to offer graduate level courses for Helderberg students in Takoma Park, Maryland and online. The two-year memo of understanding will strengthen academic collaboration and expand business administration educational opportunities at the two universities.

The partnership is designed to help diversify the international graduate student population at Washington Adventist University, while assisting Helderberg in creating a pipeline from their undergraduate programs into various graduate programs. The agreement is not meant to serve as competition for present bachelor programs, but to enrich the institutions’ current history of delivering high quality, values-based education.

Washington Adventist University (WAU) will receive and process admission applications from students at Helderberg College in accordance with standard WAU practices and U.S. federal law. Students matriculating under the terms of the agreement will be required to submit official Helderberg College transcripts to Washington Adventist University, but will be exempted from submitted World Education Services evaluations.
The new partnership opens opportunities for faculty exchange programs. In addition, the partnership will foster communication between students at the two institutions, and will include development of outreach activities.

Present at the signing were Helderberg College President Vincent Injety; Washington Adventist University President Weymouth Spence; WAU School of Graduate and Professional Studies Interim Dean Nicole Currier; WAU Provost Cheryl Kisunzu; WAU Vice President of Financial Administration Patrick Farley; WAU Chief of Operations and Compliance Janette Neufville; WAU Business and Communication Department Chair Kimberly Pichot; and WAU Corporate Communications Director Angie Crews.
