Washington Adventist University Hosts Fall Service Day in Baltimore on September 30

Volunteers sought for variety of community projects

Takoma Park, MD (September 18, 2015) Washington Adventist University is hosting its fall 2015 Service Day on Wednesday, September 30, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students, faculty and staff, alumni and community members are encouraged to volunteer at any of a variety of projects that are located in Baltimore, Md. Participants who need transportation to the project sites are asked to meet at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church, 7700 Carroll Ave., in Takoma Park at 8 a.m.  Buses will transport the volunteers to the project sites.

“Washington Adventist University hosts regular service days to connect the campus with the community,” said Kaneil Williams, Director of Missions for Washington Adventist University’s Office of Ministry. “Participation in community projects is part of this university’s mission to be a ‘Gateway to Service’ and it helps our students develop a life-long commitment to providing service to others.”

Projects on September 30 include packaging meals for delivery, grounds clean up, gardening, landscaping, clerical work and office help. Volunteers can choose their project and register at https://www.wau.edu/office-of-ministry/service-day.

After the projects conclude, all buses and participants will convene from 2 – 3 p.m. for a closing ceremony at Druid Hill Park, 2600 Madison Ave., Baltimore, Md. 21217.
