U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings

Takoma Park, MD (September 18, 2015) Washington Adventist University (WAU) ranks 43rd among regional colleges of the north in the 2016 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges edition, moving up from its 46th position in the 2015 edition. In this latest edition, WAU also ranks fifth in best ethnic diversity among the regional colleges of the north.

The annual ranking, released on September 9, 2015, is currently available online at http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges and will soon be available in print. The ranking is based on assessments by peers and counselors, student retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rate performance and the alumni giving rate.

“Our improved position in the best colleges ranking confirms that our ongoing efforts to develop a culture of excellence on this campus are working,” said Weymouth Spence, Ed.D., R.T., president of Washington Adventist University. “We are modelling our efforts to achieve excellence on the Baldrige Program, and our plan to become one of the premiere private colleges in the mid-Atlantic region is coming to fruition.”

Washington Adventist University was recently ranked among the top 30 “Great Small Schools for a Counseling Degree” and top 30 “Great Small Schools for a Teaching Degree.” WAU is also named among the 50 “Best Value Small Colleges for a Biology Degree” and is one of the “Most Affordable Small Schools East of the Mississippi” on the Great Value Colleges website.

Washington Adventist University is Montgomery County, Maryland’s only four-year private college. Part of the Seventh-day Adventist system of higher education, Washington Adventist University has been educating college students since 1904 on a 19-acre campus in suburban Takoma Park, close to the nation’s capital.
