Washington Adventist University Named NAIA Champions of Character® Five-Star Institution for 2024-2025

TAKOMA PARK, Maryland — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named Washington Adventist University (WAU) a 2024-2025 Champions of Character® Five-Star Institution. This shows that the university is still committed to character-driven athletics.

The Champions of Character program gives awards to schools that show integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership both on and off the field. WAU earned this title by achieving at least 60 points out of 100 on the NAIA’s Champions of Character scorecard, a rigorous annual assessment that schools undergo.

WAU thanks the NAIA for this distinction. We are proud to be one of the schools that has been recognized for creating an environment where character and competition go hand in hand.

WAU is one of 210 NAIA member schools that will receive the Five-Star honor for the 2024–2025 school year. Our university strives to help students grow in all areas of their lives, including academically and spiritually, so that they can lead lives of purpose and make a difference.

We don’t just train athletes to win games. We train them to lead with integrity, serve their communities, and reflect Christ in everything they do.This honor signifies that we’re on the right track, and we’ll keep working to build a championship culture based on character.

One of the NAIA’s most important programs is the Champions of Character program. It helps schools and teams create positive environments that foster student-athletes’ growth in all areas.
