Washington Adventist University Receives Invitation to Participate in Public Campus Ministries Weekend
Washington Adventist University (WAU) students received a special invitation to the Global Public Campus Ministries (PCM) Weekend by Jiwan S. Moon, Director of PCM. Pro Musica, led by Anwar Ottley, performed pieces during the morning service and again in the afternoon with the New England Youth Ensemble, directed by Preston Hawes. President Spence joined the event as a panel participant for the afternoon’s symposium on “Adventism in the 21st Century.” The questions were gathered online from students and professionals about Adventist identity and the prophetic mission to fulfill Christ’s commission.
The theme for this year’s PCM Weekend was Empathize, Engage and Empower, encouraging students to empathize with others on campus, actively engage in the church and be empowered for service in their community. The event tailored to celebrate the work of campus ministries across the globe took place from October 20 – 22 highlighting high school and university students while providing them an opportunity to fellowship together.
“Attending the PCM Weekend was informational and encouraging to me,” said graduate student Marette Spencer. “It was nice experiencing the passion that radiated from other young believers who feel the need to share the gospel while attending public institutions.”
The event was broadcasted live and is available for viewing on the PCM website.
Washington Adventist University is Montgomery County’s only four-year private college.
