Washington Adventist University Secures Maryland’s CCCPDF Grant for 2024-2025
Takoma Park, MD – Washington Adventist University (WAU) has been approved for Maryland’s Child Care Career and Professional Development Fund (CCCPDF) grant for the 2024-2025 school year. This grant will cover 100% of tuition and fees for recipients, supporting early childhood care providers in furthering their education.
WAU offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Care and Education, available online. This flexibility allows students to continue working with young children while pursuing their degrees. Maryland residents working in early childhood care may qualify for the CCCPDF grant, with additional financial aid options available.
Ordette Glass, a childcare provider with nearly two decades of experience, is one such student benefiting from WAU’s program. Glass, who runs Open Minds Early Learning Center in Maryland, joined WAU’s program to advance her career.
“The school is definitely supportive of our growth, development, and learning,” Glass said. “Knowing that I could attend this university, acquire a bachelor’s degree, and continue in the profession I had already been in made it all worthwhile.”
WAU’s program combines academic rigor, practical experience, and a values-based approach. Courses cover topics such as early literacy, social-emotional development, and inclusive education.
“They’re going to get the knowledge they need to help them grow,” said Carol Cogen, a program coordinator at WAU.
“Students will have an opportunity to obtain further professional credibility,” said Joyce Johnson, dean of WAU’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Founded in 1904, WAU is owned by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and offers a Christian education to students of differing faiths.
