Washington Adventist University’s WGTS 91.9 FM Radio Station Attracted More than 4,000 People to Recent Summer Concert
Takoma Park, Md. (August 17, 2016) More than 4,000 people attended the summer concert that Washington Adventist University’s WGTS 91.9 FM Radio Station hosted recently at Tysons Corner Center in Virginia. The outdoor event, which featured former American Idol contestant Colton Dixon, was held on a new plaza that is suspended 43 feet in the air between the Tysons Corner Mall and three large buildings across the street.
According to WGTS morning show host and Promotions Director Jerry Woods, “It was an amazing venue for a concert. While thousands showed up with tickets, many others came just to find out what was happening and ended up staying for the whole event.”
WGTS listeners also participated in the Hands and Heart project by donating school supplies and 143 backpacks to be distributed by the Salvation Army to local area needy children.
“I am extremely proud of our radio station, and pleased that it entertains and encourages people in ways consistent with this university’s mission to educate moral leaders for our communities,” said Washington Adventist University President Weymouth Spence, Ed.D. “It is gratifying that WGTS 91.9 shares messages of hope and inspiration with approximately half a million listeners each week.”
Washington Adventist University’s WGTS 91.9 FM radio station features Christian music, uplifting messages and personal messages of hope. The station is located on campus in Takoma Park, Maryland, and is the only contemporary Christian music station based in the D.C. market.
