Sihle Sharrieff-Hayward is a current international graduating senior at Washington Adventist University pursuing two bachelor’s degrees, one in Accounting and one in Elementary/Special Education. Sihle is actively involved in campus activities, and her gift of leadership is recognized by the many notable honors and titles she holds. She currently serves as the Senior Class President for the Class of 2021, President of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honors Society, and has previously served as the President of the Caribbean Student Union. Sihle has been inducted into the Alpha Chi National Honors Society, was awarded Business Outstanding Honors Student for 2019-2020, and has been on the Dean’s List every semester since 2019.  She works as a tutor for Accounting at WAU.

Recently, Sihle was named as the recipient of the 2020 KPMG Accounting Scholarship (Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler, which is the third-largest accounting firm in the world with its headquarters in Netherland). The KPMG scholarship is an important aspect of KPMG’s Lift-Off Graduate Program and provides Bermudian university students with financial assistance towards the completion of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an Accounting or Business-related subject. This opportunity provides Sihle with a guaranteed internship and an invitation to join the firm upon graduation. Managing Director of KPMG, Steve Woodward, said: “Sihle really impressed our committee with her keen interest in accounting, an excellent academic record, as well as her passion for volunteering and active community involvement. She can look forward to a great future and an exciting career with KPMG”.

Sihle’s success can be attributed to the hard work and dedication she puts into everything that she does. She has been accepted into the graduate program in Business at the University of Maryland. We wish her every success as she graduates from WAU and moves on with her future plans.
