Eugene Simonov, WGTS Director of Video Production, Nominated for College Television Award
(Washington, DC) – Eugene Simonov, WGTS 91.9’s director of video production, has been nominated for a College Television Award, presented by the Television Academy Foundation. The awards, which mirror the Emmys®, recognize excellence in student-produced entertainment and news content from college students across the country. Simonov has been nominated in the “Best Unscripted TV Series” category for his work as producer, director and cinematographer of the WGTS 91.9 “Words of Hope” video series.
“Throughout the series, it’s always been my goal to encourage viewers that God is for them and they are not alone. I love being able to create media with the goal of encouraging people that they can get through the struggles that we all face daily,” said nominee Eugene Simonov.
As a finalist, Simonov will attend the College Television Awards ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday, May 25th at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. The ceremony is hosted by the Television Academy Foundation, whose mission is to educate, inspire, and empower those who will shape the future of television.
Simonov is a graduate student at Washington Adventist University, just outside of Washington D.C. He is working towards an MBA and in addition he’s focusing on film distribution and the media business. In the past eight years he has produced numerous commercials, music videos and other video projects. He is a member of TIVA-DC (Television, Internet and Video Association of Washington DC, Inc.), and has spent the last four years leading the video department of WGTS 91.9.
