Washington Adventist University Psychology Program Ranked in the Top 100 in the Nation for Graduating Minority Students with Master’s Degrees

Takoma Park, Md. (September 13, 2016) The news magazine, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, has ranked the Washington Adventist University (WAU) graduate psychology program among its 2016 Top 100 Minority Degree Producers. Out of more than 4,000 colleges and universities in the nation, WAU is ranked among those schools graduating the most minority students with a graduate psychology degree.

“We are pleased to be recognized for our success in educating minority psychology students in our master’s program, and it’s nice to be ranked among the top 100 schools in the country,” said WAU President Weymouth Spence. “This is one of the most diverse campuses in the nation, as reflected by the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges edition, and we pride ourselves in producing competent moral leaders for their communities.”

The Diverse: Issues in Higher Education news magazine has, for more than 30 years, served as a source of news, information and commentary regarding diversity in American higher education. It covers a wide range of issues as they relate to diversity. That includes tenure, salary, faculty, students, recruitment, retention and access and equity.

The magazine was launched in 1984 as Black Issues In Higher Education, focusing on issues pertaining to African Americans in higher education. In 2005, the magazine was renamed to reflect expanded coverage that addresses issues affecting a wider range of underrepresented groups in higher education.
