Washington Adventist University Hosts Dedication Weekend September 16-18, 2016 Featuring Concert by Duawne Starling

(September 9, 2016)  Washington Adventist University (WAU) is hosting a Dedication Weekend September 16-18, 2016, and a Friday evening concert by Duawne Starling with a performance by the university’s Silent Judah Praise Dance Team. The September 16 concert, which is free and open to the public, will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center, 7995 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, Maryland.

“We look forward to a weekend of rededicating ourselves to the mission and goals of this university as we move forward in our Vision 2020 – Growing with Excellence plan this school year,” said WAU President Weymouth Spence, Ed.D.  “I encourage our students, faculty, staff, alumni and the larger community to join us as we celebrate at the Friday evening concert, the Saturday morning Dedication Service, and the Sunday evening Gala.”

During the day on September 16, a  meeting of the Washington Adventist University Board of Trustees will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 3501 University Blvd., College Park, Maryland.

On Saturday, September 17, a Dedication Service will be held at 11 a.m. at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church, located on campus at 7700 Carroll Ave., in Takoma Park, Maryland. A potluck meal will follow at the nearby Votaw House, the President’s residence.

On Sunday, September 18, a Board Orientation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, and the weekend will culminate with the Fourth Annual Visionaries Gala, which starts at 6 p.m. at Congressional Country Club, 8500 River Rd., Bethesda, Maryland.
