WAU Hosts Inaugural President’s Invitational Classic to Unite Adventist and Local Christian Academies

TAKOMA PARK, Md. — Washington Adventist University (WAU) is thrilled to announce the inaugural President’s Invitational Classic, a soccer tournament designed to foster camaraderie, teamwork, and unity among student-athletes from Adventist and local Christian academies. Set to take place on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, this event promises an inspiring experience that reaches beyond the field, emphasizing shared values and mutual respect.
The President’s Invitational Classic represents more than just competition; it is a gathering of institutions dedicated to shaping students not only in academics and athletics but also in character and spiritual growth. Through this tournament, WAU seeks to strengthen the bonds between participating schools, creating an environment where students can showcase their athletic skills, develop meaningful connections, and celebrate the unity of mission and faith shared across our community.
“Our local private institutions play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and athletic talents of our students,” a WAU spokesperson noted. “But perhaps most importantly, they foster character and spiritual development. The Classic is a special opportunity for our schools to deepen their connections, allowing students to build lasting friendships and collaborate with peers who share their values.”
The committed teams for this year’s classic include Shenandoah Valley Academy (SVA), Takoma Academy (TA), and Don Bosco High School. These schools are currently deciding whether to proceed with a round-robin schedule or to commit for participation in next year’s tournament.
The President’s Invitational Classic is centered around more than winning games—it celebrates sportsmanship, community, and collaboration. WAU believes that this event will leave a lasting impact on every participant, encouraging personal growth and inspiring future partnerships within the Adventist and Christian academy network.
