GCAS Visits WAU to Inspire Future Auditors
Written by: IMC Director Simonique Dietz
On October 7, the General Conference Audit Services (GCAS) visited Washington Adventist University’s Department of Business and Communications to connect with Accounting and Finance majors about internship opportunities and the vital role GCAS plays in supporting the mission of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ms. Katie McAuliffe, a certified public accountant and talent acquisition specialist with GCAS, led the presentation, sharing pathways for internships, full-time employment, and professional advancement within the organization. She was joined by Naomi Davis, a proud WAU alumna and current staff audit specialist, who provided firsthand insight into her career journey after graduation.
Students gained valuable exposure to the professional world of auditing and the impact of faith-based service within the global church structure. The interactive session encouraged students to consider how their accounting expertise could advance both their careers and the church’s mission.
WAU student Cathrina Schoonard reflected on her own experience, saying, “I completed an internship with GCAS last summer and enjoyed every minute of it. I hope to get a full-time position with them.”
The Department of Business and Communications expressed its appreciation for GCAS’s continued engagement and mentorship, emphasizing the importance of hands-on learning experiences that bridge classroom knowledge with professional application.
Washington Adventist University continues to prepare students to serve as ethical, competent leaders in business and finance through a curriculum grounded in faith and excellence.
