Washington Adventist University (WAU) concluded a successful North American Division College Fair Tour in October, engaging with Adventist academy students across the Atlantic and Columbia Union territories. The tour, which spanned October 14-19 and October 22-23, 2024, included stops at Union Springs Academy, Kingsway College, Crawford Adventist Academy, Northeastern Academy, Greater New York Academy, Pine Tree Academy, South Lancaster Academy, Shenandoah Valley Academy, Blue Mountain Academy, and Pine Forge Academy.
The tour involved extensive travel, with WAU representatives spending 4-8 hours on the road each day, followed by similar hours interacting with students, faculty, and staff at each academy. “We were received very well at each institution,” WAU Recruiter and Enrollment Specialist Kristyn Huie said. “Many students have already applied to WAU and encouraged their classmates to apply on the spot and submit transcripts for faster acceptance.”
The Atlantic Union week alone yielded 194 applications and transcripts. The following week in the Columbia Union territory saw another 50-70 applications, underscoring significant student interest in WAU. Many students cited friends currently attending WAU as inspiration to apply, noting WAU’s vibrant campus life as a draw.
The reception from academy faculty and staff was also positive, with educators expressing interest in encouraging their students to consider WAU. Plans are in place for return visits to each academy to host classroom presentations and chapel events.
“It was an honor to be present at each academy, engaging with faculty, staff, and students,” Huie shared. “I also met many alumni working at these institutions, and I look forward to strengthening these connections in the coming year.”
The college fair tour reflects WAU’s ongoing commitment to building strong relationships with Adventist academies and inspiring students to consider WAU as their higher education destination.
